2026-2027 New Mexico Policy Fellowship

Eligibility Requirements

I am currently a teacher of record or educator working directly with students in a New Mexico public school (district or charter).I will have at least three years of teaching experience by August 2026.I plan to remain in a role working directly with students during the 2026–2027 school year.I am available to participate in the July 2026 fellowship kickoff and monthly sessions throughout the program year.

I meet the qualifications above and am ready to continue my application.

Q1: Values/Organizational Alignment

Teach Plus works to elevate educator voice and ensure that education policies improve opportunities for students and strengthen the teaching profession. Below are several values that guide our work.

Teach Plus Policy Fellows work together to research education challenges and develop recommendations aligned to policy, implementation, and/or awareness that expand opportunities for students across New Mexico.

Q1: Teaching Context / Impact

Teach Plus works with educators who demonstrate strong classroom impact and leadership. Policy Fellows bring their classroom expertise to conversations about education policy and student opportunity.

Please describe the students and school community you serve and provide evidence of your effectiveness as an educator.

Your response should include:

- A brief description of your school community and the students you serve

- One or two examples that demonstrate your impact as a teacher

Evidence of impact may include examples such as:

- student academic growth or achievement

- improvements in student engagement, attendance, or course completion

- closing learning gaps for specific groups of students

- expanding access to opportunities (advanced courses, career pathways, etc.)

- leading or contributing to initiatives that improved outcomes for students

Q2. Collaboration

The Teach Plus Policy Fellowship involves working closely with other educators to research education issues, analyze data, develop policy recommendations, and advocate for solutions that improve opportunities for students.

Describe a time when you worked collaboratively with others to address a challenge in your classroom, school, district, or community.

This collaboration might have involved activities such as:

- working with colleagues to analyze student data and identify solutions

- serving on a school, district, or committee team addressing a specific challenge

- helping design or improve a program, initiative, or policy at your school or district

- advocating for a change in practice, policy, or resource allocation
